Housed in the centre of Paris in a building designed by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers, whose architecture symbolises the spirit of the 20th century, the Centre Pompidou first opened its doors to the public in 1977. After renovation work from 1997 to December 1999, it opened to the public again on 1 January 2000, with expanded museum space and enhanced reception areas. Since then it has once again become one of the most visited attractions in France. Christie's Auction House

Exemplary client service and extensive experience are the two most important assets that have fueled Christie's success as an auction house. Famed for his eloquence and humor, Christie turned auctioneering into a sophisticated art, conducting the greatest auctions of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Among the many milestones of Christie's auction house was Christie's successful negotiation with Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia, for the sale of Sir Robert Walpole's collection of paintings, which would become the Hermitage Museum Collection in St. Petersburg. Today, Christie’s conducts international auctions in over 80 categories—from fine art and furniture to clocks and classic cars.

http://www.gif.ru/

The GIF.RU project appears to be not just an information resource but an element of a new cultural machine. It presupposes that enthusiasm for the cultural building will dominate here, in contrast to a critic’s distant view. It also presumes a clearly formulated position towards the subject itself, i.e. Art of Russia. We are not interested in regional art; we are interested in the world’s art phenomenon, which can be found on the territory of Russia. We are going to provide consistent support to the occurrences of the unified cultural space, wherever they might appear, but we’re absolutely indifferent to local ones, even though they may seem successful.
